Leadership Philosophy
It was the year 2000 and the emirate of Abu Dhabi was undergoing massive urban transformation, building a bustling metropolis around the traditional fisherman's harbour, establishing itself as a regional commercial and cultural hub.
Building the "Hidden Guardian"
At the time, a young Mahmoud Abu Ebeid was just finding his feet. The Abu Dhabi-raised entrepreneur had just graduated from the American University of Sharjah with a degree in civil engineering, and his first taste of the world of work was in construction; a sector that his family had roots in, and which at the time was a cornerstone of the UAE's economy.

"I loved the idea of building," Abu Ebeid recalls. "My father and uncles were in construction but I found something more exciting in software." Software engineering provided an "immediate reward": "When you code something and it works, that feeling of instant creation is addictive."
Recognition and Growth
His first job at a software company was in a team of around ten people but the experience planted a seed. What was supposed to be a stepping-stone job became the building blocks of a career, and eventually a business: Global Software Solutions, or GSS Group.
Abu Ebeid founded GSS Group in 2000, initially focusing on software development services. Over the years, the company evolved to specialize in financial technology, particularly payment systems and banking infrastructure.
Today, GSS Group powers the payment infrastructure for 23 financial institutions across the UAE, including major banks and financial service providers. The company's flagship products include the Veracious Payment Hub, which enables banks to process millions of transactions daily.
Abu Ebeid's approach to leadership is deeply rooted in his engineering background. "Engineers solve problems," he says. "Every challenge in business is just another problem to solve. You analyze it, break it down, and find the most efficient solution."

GSS Group operates as what Abu Ebeid calls a "hidden guardian" of the UAE's financial ecosystem. "Most people don't know we exist," he explains. "But when they transfer money instantly, when they make a payment that goes through in seconds, our technology is often working behind the scenes."
The company played a pivotal role in launching "Aani," the UAE's instant payment platform, which allows consumers and businesses to transfer money in real-time. This project, developed in partnership with the Central Bank of the UAE, marked a significant milestone in the country's financial infrastructure.
